Has it been researched if cats / pets kept indoors have more or less health problems than one’s kept outdoors?

I mean more medical conditions rather than accidents, or attacks – what about lack of sunshine?

I have all indoor cats (5 in fact) and they are all very happy and healthy. It is essential to make sure that they have plenty of stimulation so if you wish to have a cat be indoors I would suggest getting a pair of kittens so they can entertain each other. As for ours, one is a little pudgy but the others are actually very lean. We feed them at set times and monitor portions so their weight doesn’t get out of control. They spend a lot of time playing and do not attempt to go outside even when they have the opportunity. As for sunshine, open the blinds and you will surely find cats flopped all over the floor.

Overall I would say that both indoor and outdoor cats have needs that need to be met by their owners. It is important to consider what these needs might be when deciding on a pet. But I prefer to keep my kitties inside where I can take care of them best.

How have your pets suffered from food recall-related health problems?
